Here you can see the Moapa Valley spreading out before you. The escarpment in the background is the Mormon Mesa, found to have the oldest surface anywhere on the planet. The Moapa Valley is home to a series of small towns that include Moapa, Logandale, and Overton. The Muddy River, a tributary of the Colorado River system, flows through the valley, eventually emptying into Lake Mead. But archaeologists have found evidence that the region has been occupied for centuries, with both the Pueblo and Paiutes calling the valley home. In the late 1880s, Mormons settled into small agricultural communities in the fertile Moapa Valley and the farming lifestyle exits to this day. Visitors to Moapa Valley will find friendly communities with small-town character.
The Moapa Valley is the annual host of the Clark County Fair and Rodeo, which is held at the county fairgrounds in Logandale. The Fair is a wholesome, family-oriented event that showcases the quality of life to be found in rural Nevada. Another popular event in Moapa Valley is the annual Bluegrass Festival. |
