Glacier National Park - Westside

Name: Wildlife Lookout
Address:
Description: Wildlife Lookout

Since the end of the last Ice Age, these forests have burned many times. Fire-created openings allow sunlight to reach the forest floor, stimulating grass, shrub, and berry production. The increased food supply benefits the deer, elk, and moose that frequent this area. In late summer and early fall, black bears and grizzlies congregate in the nearby Apgar Mountains to feed on ripening berries growing on burn sites. In spring, bears and deer are often seen grazing along the Camas Road.
